Property LeadingVal

This property sets or returns the current value for the leading.

LeadingVal [ = dblLeadingVal As Double]

Parameter     Description
  • LeadingVal Value of leading to be used

    Leading, in twips, is added to the value of CurrentY and CurrentY is updated by AddTextAt with standard leading of the font + Preview.Leading.

    Percentage leading means that each line can be spaced with help of the specified percentage of the FontSize set by LeadingVal. Note that, with AddTextAt, which adds Graphictext elements, the whole string is in the same font specification, including size. The white between lines (Interline) is normally 30-40% of the FontSize.

    Absolute leading means that lines start at the specified distance (in twips) vertically, regardless the FontSize, thus CurrentY will increase with the value of LeadingVal.

    Incremental leading means that the specified distance is added to the default value of CurrentY set by AddtextAt. Zero increment means that lines are spaced according to the FontSize, thus in this case CurrentY will be the result of FontSize + LeadingVal in twips.

    Note that the default value of Autostep for AddTextAt is prASLine which updates CurrentY according to the current leading.

    To set two lines, separated by a half line space:

    Preview.LeadingType = prLTPercent
    Preview.LeadingVal = 150.0
    Preview.AddTextAt "Line One"
    Preview.AddTextAt "Line Two"

    To set two lines, separated by a half interline space (white between lines):

    Preview.LeadingType = prLTPercent
    Preview.LeadingVal = 80.0
    Preview.AddTextAt "Line One"
    Preview.AddTextAt "Line Two"
