Method ParaText

This method adds a paratext element to the current frame.

ParaText (strText As String, vXpos As Variant, vYpos As Variant, vWidth As Variant, vHeight As Variant) As String

Parameter Description
  • strText Text including the ParaText tags
  • vXpos Horizontal position of ParaText
  • vYpos Vertical position of ParaText
  • vWidth Width of ParaText box
  • vHeight Height of ParaText box

This method flows a text string, containing mark up tags, into a rectangular area if vWidth and vHeight are specified. Any part of the original string which cannot be fitted into the specified rectangle is ommited. Also take note that the fontsize does have influence.

If vWidth is ommited the text string is one single line, and if longer then the PageWidth/PaperWidth it will run over the edge.

All coordinational parameters are optional, if vXpos or vYpos is ommited the values of CurrentX or CurrentY are used.

The formatting tags take the form: "< xx param >" in which xx defines the command and, if necessary, followed by a parameter. Some tags reflect on the whole text like "< ju >".

The tag <fs 10.0> changes the subsequent text to 10 pt fontsize.

To create a ParaText element starting at 1 inch from the left and 1 inch from the top in a non-visible rectangle of 5 x 7 inches in bold:

    Preview.ParaText "<bd 1>Bold text<bd 0>","1.0 in","1.0 in","5.0 in","7.0 in"

    the following code :

Preview.ParaText "Jumping like a red fox in a field is stupid if you
    are not a red fox.", 3000, 3000, "3 cm", "1 cm"

will result in (depending on FontName and FontSize) :

    Jumping like a
    red fox in a field
