Method DrawSymbol

Action:

This method places a symbol element in the current frame.

Syntax:

DrawSymbol (strSetname As String, strSymbolId As String, bParam As Boolean, vXpos As Variant, vYpos As Variant, vSize As Variant) As String

Parameter --- opt/req --- Description

  • strSetName --- Required --- Internal, Space (" ") or font name
  • strSymbolId --- Required --- Kind of symbol. String
  • bParam --- Required --- Boolean
  • vXpos --- Optional --- Horizontal position of symbol origin
  • vYpos --- Optional --- Vertical position of symbol origin
  • vSize --- Optional --- Symbol size

If the strSetName is "internal" then the strSymbolId parameter can contain the following values:

    Value --- Description

  • Box --- Box
  • Radio --- Radio Button
  • CheckBox --- CheckBox

Otherwise the value of strSetName can be a font name and the string strSymbolId is printed from this font. If strSetName is a space (" ") then the active FontName is used.

    Remarks:

The vXpos, vYpos and vSize parameters may either be numbers, which are taken to be values in twips, or a string. If a parameter is specified as a string then it is converted to twips using the C_Twips function.

If either vXpos or vYpos are omitted then they are taken from the values of CurrentX or CurrentY. If vSize is omitted it is set to the current FontSize.

After the completion of the method the values of CurrentX and CurrentY are set to the symbol origin.

In case that the internal sybols Radio and CheckBox are used, the value of Param is considered as a Boolean. If True then the inner circle of the radio button is drawn solid black and a cross is drawn in the checkbox.

    Example:

    To place a checked radio-button:

    preview.DrawSymbol "Internal", "Radio", True, 2500, 2500, 500

or to put some text with a different font size and/or font name without effecting the set FontSize and set FontName:

preview.DrawSymbol "Times New Roman", "any text", False, 2500, 2500, 500

or to put a symbol from a symbolfont:

    preview.DrawSymbol "SymbolFontName", Chr(##), False, 2500, 2500, 500
