Method C_Twips

This method converts a string to twips.

C_Twips ( vSpec As Variant ) As Long

Parameter Description
  • vSpec Dimension specification like "1.5 cm"
If vSpec is a value, this value is considered to be twips, and the result is that value.

If vSpec is a string, in which case it must take one of the forms shown below in which the space is required, the result will be in twips.

    <Value> space <Units>

where Value can contain a decimal point

    where Units may be:

  • in or inches
  • mm or millimeters
  • cm or centimeters
  • tw or twips
  • pt or points

A twip is one-twenthiest of a point. 567 twips is equal to 1 cm.

If the vSpec string is not specified correctly then an error is generated. If no units are given, and there is no space in the string, then the value is converted directly into twips.

Note that many properties and methods take parameters which implicitly call C_Twips.

To calculate the amount of twips of 1 cm:

    dim lgTwips as Long
    lgTwips = Preview.C_Twips ("1 cm")
where after lgTwips will contain 567 ( twips )
